In the past four years, I have been let go from three corporate jobs. All three jobs have sent me on my way with a glowing recommendation telling everyone else how wonderful I am. "Ashley is so great! Ashley is an amazing worker who goes above and beyond her duties. Ashley will make a fantastic addition to any workplace." Oh, is that so? Then why are you letting me go? Is it because you are "restructuring the office" or is it really because I just spent a year of my life making all of your company files updated, organized and more efficient? A year of my life making your job easier. Yes, I think that is actually what it comes down to at the end of the day. I am just a means to justify your ends. Well, I'm done with being someone else's donkey to carry the heavy load and do all the work then tossed aside for someone else who will do the job cheaper. I am done being taken advantage of for my skillset and then tossed aside like spoiled food. I am done with that. So, after the third time of crying my eyes out in the past four years because some corporate job has let me go, I am doing something different. I am going to focus on my own dreams and aspirations. I am going to exert my talents and do so in a positive way. You wouldn't believe I am a genuinely positive person based on this first initial post, but I can assure you that I am. I try to look on the positive side of life 99% of the time. I try to love people and show everyone grace and understanding. However, I am definitely tired of being taken advantage of. So, I am doing something about it. I am going to embark on a journey of my own success and financial freedom. I believe in myself. I can do this and I will do this.
Now, onto the most important part of this blog. What is it? Who am I? What's crack-a-lackin'? Well, I do have those answers. The most important way I can answer is to say that I want to teach you how to do stuff. I'm a "Jill of all trades" kind of person, and I want to share that with you. I want to show you tips and tricks to host a party on a budget or how to feed a crowd of people for $20. I want to show you how to make a beautiful and delicious trifle that your friends will rave about. I want to teach you how to be frugal in the kitchen, and how you can live with the ups and downs of celiac disease. I want to show you my helpful hints to be a good parent and a thoughtful friend. I want to teach you how to do things in life that I have learned through the years. A life, undoubtedly, that grows sweeter with each passing day. I am a mom, a spouse, and a friend. I love people with everything I have and my life goal is to grow upwards. I never want to be stagnate. I firmly believe there is something to learn everyday. Learning, growing and loving are three words that can describe me in a simple sentence. I would love for you to join me on this journey. Will you learn, grow and love with me?
